The department conducts the following studies:

  • brain
  • spine
  • dentoalveolar system
  • ENT organs
  • chest organs
  • abdominal organs (liver, gall bladder, spleen, pancreas, abdominal vessels)
  • pelvic organs
  • osteoarticular system
  • densitometry
  • soft tissues
  • vessels
  • heart, coronary arteries, including calculation of coronary calcium and functional characteristics.

The department of computed tomography is equipped with a modern 40-section SOMATOM Sensation multispiral computer tomograph manufactured by SIEMENS. The device features a high resolution, short study time and allows to diagnose many pathological processes at the early stages.

In addition to standard studies conducted at low-spiral devices, the department studies vessels in the angiography mode. The most common are studies of vessels of the neck, brain, aorta, pulmonary arteries and veins, arteries of lower extremities, and renal arteries. Upon intravenous administration of a contrast agent, 3D images of vessels are obtained, which allows to diagnose stenosis, occlusion, vascular development, visualize atherosclerotic plaques. CT angiography is often an alternative to the standard angiographic study in in-patient conditions. Our institution offers non-invasive examination of coronary arteries for presence of calcinosis as the marker of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

The coronary calcinosis study by spiral computed tomography can be conducted in out-patient conditions, at any time, for 5–10 minutes, requires no preliminary preparation, does not depend on the physical fitness of a patient and medicinal therapy, have no clinical contraindications.

Compared to ECG and various functional tests (including  dosed physical or drug load), this method allows for earlier detection of preclinical changes in coronary arteries. During repeated studies, the dynamics of development of atherosclerotic lesions of coronary arteries can be determined.

The computed tomography room is equipped with a modern 40-section SOMATOM Sensation multispiral computer tomograph manufactured by SIEMENS. The device features a high resolution, short study time and allows to diagnose many pathological processes at the early stages. The following studies are conducted in the room:

  • chest organs;
  • abdominal organs (liver, gall bladder, spleen, pancreas, abdominal vessels);
  • brain;
  • spine;
  • dentoalveolar system;
  • ENT organs;
  • pelvic organs;
  • osteoarticular system;
  • densitometry;
  • soft tissues;
  • vessels;
  • coronary arteries, including calculation of coronary calcium and functional characteristics.
